Imonitor Iium Work

developed by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to track and manage the progress of postgraduate students. Managed by the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) in collaboration with the Information Technology Division (ITD), this platform ensures seamless interaction between research students and their academic supervisors. It digitized what used to be a heavily manual, paper-driven process, streamlining milestone tracking, logbook management, and Research Progress Report (RPR) submissions. Key Features of the iMonitor System

: The system works in tandem with the IIUM Code of Supervision , ensuring that both student and supervisor maintain consistent contact and professional accountability.

At its core, i-Monitor serves as a digital liaison between university staff and the administration. While IIUM utilizes various platforms such as the Student Information System (SIS) and the i-Portal, i-Monitor occupies a specific niche focused on routine reporting and monitoring. Its most prominent application has been the digitization of attendance logs and status reporting for non-academic staff.

Before diving into "how-to," let's define what iMonitor actually is. Contrary to popular belief, iMonitor is not a single monolithic app. Within the IIUM ecosystem, "iMonitor" generally refers to two interconnected systems:

The i-Monitor system is not merely a digital convenience; it is a strategic tool for research management and quality assurance at IIUM. The core purpose of i-Monitor is to "monitor the progress of student research works," as stated on the iViva system page. This objective is achieved through several key functions, which collectively contribute to a more robust and supportive research environment. Furthermore, the iViva system is designed to complement iMonitor by helping students manage the submission of their theses and dissertations online.

While much of the focus is on the student's use of the i-Monitor system, it is equally important to understand the supervisor's role. The system is designed to be a partner to the supervisor, not just a tool for monitoring their students.

: Students from Semester 3 onwards (typically after passing their Comprehensive Exam or Proposal Defense) are required to submit their reports through this platform.
